One of "the seven spring
herbs" of Japan, cooked in the rice porridge with other six herbs.
It is sometimes called "Penpen-Gusa". "Penpen" is not a sound,
but refers to the shape of the seed which resembles a pick used
to play "samisen". You can make a rustling sound of seeds when
you pick a seeded inflorescence and shake it near the ear. "Seri
