One of "the seven spring herbs" of Japan. The name may be derived from "Hakobera", which is described in "Honzo-Wamei", the oldest encyclopedia of herbs in Japan. Not to mention that it is cooked in the rice porridge with other six herbs, it is also a popular bird feed. "Seri Nazuna Gogyo Hakobera Hotoke-no-Za, Suzuna Suzushiro, Korezo Nana-Kusa" .
