One of "the seven autumn flowers " of Japan, with the beginning of the flowering as early as July. Common species usually found in mountainous areas. "Hagi-no-Hana, O-Bana Kuzu-Bana Nadeshiko-ga-Hana, Omina-Eshi, mata Fuji-Bakama, Asagao-no-Hana" (composed by Yama-no-Ue-no-Okura, Manyoshu Vol.8.).
