One of "the seven autumn flowers". It used to be found in many places such as river banks, but it has become rare in the wild, and often cultivated in gardens. "Hagi-no-Hana, O-Bana Kuzu-Bana Nadeshiko-ga-Hana, Omina-Eshi, mata Fuji-Bakama, Asagao-no-Hana" (composed by Yama-no-Ue-no-Okura, Manyoshu Vol.8.).
